The first mural I painted was in 1998 – a children’s room closet with a nature scene.
The Egyptian mural was for an esoteric business called Spirit Matters in Almonte, Ontario. You can see the painting in the background of one the pics: http://www.spiritmatters.ca/contact/index.html
The summer camp murals were designed by a Peterborough artist, and painted by a woman named Sue, and myself in the summer of 2000. I was then between 1st and 2nd year of art school at Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario.
Then skip about 6 years, time for me to explore my awakening environmental consciousness, start a degree at Carleton University in Ottawa, and finish here in Nanaimo with a Global Studies & Geography degree in 2006.
The next mural was the one at the Thirsty Camel Café, followed a year later by Old City Organics.
I am one of the fortunate recipients of a Public Art grant from the City of Nanaimo, and have now begun the prep for the China Steps Mural, to be installed and ready for public viewing May 1, 2012. Come down to 13 Victoria Cres. downtown Nanaimo, get the best falafel in town, and check out some beautiful (ahem) public artwork!!
